Quality Controller Onboarding

Role focus

Quality Controllers handle final inspection before vehicle handover when the optional role is enabled for the tenant.

What you need

Confirm the role is enabled, your branch scope is correct, and the branch has agreed what “ready for handoff” means. If the role is disabled, Branch Manager or Service Advisor should remain the fallback owner.

First login and workspace orientation

Find your work areas in the grouped, labeled sidebar. On a smaller screen, open the header navigation menu; it contains the same permitted destinations. Check the tenant and branch scope before starting work, and use the breadcrumbs to return from a detail page.

Sign in to open the Quality Control queue. It separates work into Awaiting checks, Returned for rework, and Ready for pickup, with each vehicle identified by its plate and Repair Order number. Search by registration, job number, vehicle or service, and use the page controls to reach all matching jobs. Use Refresh when you need the latest progress. The shell should reflect your assigned branch or no-branch scope; the general Dashboard and Reports navigation should not appear.

First steps

  1. Open a vehicle in Awaiting checks and verify its plate and Repair Order number.
  2. Choose Approve for pickup, Require washing, or Return for rework only when offered.
  3. Add optional Rework instructions when returning a vehicle; the assigned technician can read them.
  4. Choose Complete washing for a vehicle currently in washing.
  5. Treat Returned for rework and Ready for pickup as read-only queue groups.
  6. Refresh if another staff member has changed the vehicle’s progress before deciding again.
  7. Keep blockers visible to the Branch Manager or Service Advisor.

The queue is the complete Quality Controller workspace. Use its plate, Repair Order number, status, and offered actions; ask the owning Service Advisor or Branch Manager for customer, billing, or document context instead of opening a broader job-card workspace.

Typical workflow

Quality control sits between workshop completion and vehicle delivery. Your work should prevent handoff surprises without taking over estimate, invoice, payment, or tenant setup tasks.

When to ask for help

Return technical defects to Technician or Branch Manager. Send customer-facing timing and delivery questions to Service Advisor. Escalate repeated quality blockers to Branch Manager.

If the shell is unavailable or opens the wrong workspace, do not request reporting permission as a workaround. Ask a Tenant Admin to verify your active tenant membership, Quality Controller role, branch assignment, and whether quality control is available.

Safe use

Use the action shown for the vehicle’s current progress. Keep optional rework instructions focused on the correction and avoid unrelated personal details. They appear to the assigned technician, not in the customer’s progress timeline. Do not change payment state, customer approval decisions, inventory movements, or tenant settings.

Example

Review a completed repair order, find one missing evidence item, return it for correction, then explain who owns the next step after the item is fixed.
