Custom Domain Setup

Custom domains let customers use a tenant-owned customer-facing host.

Steps

  1. Tenant Admin opens Settings → Custom domains.
  2. Request the hostname without https://, a path, port, or wildcard.
  3. Copy the displayed TXT host and TXT value into the tenant’s DNS provider exactly as shown.
  4. Wait for DNS publication, then choose Check DNS now. A failed check can be retried after the record is corrected; the attempt and last-check time remain visible.
  5. When the record is Verified, type the canonical hostname and ACTIVATE exactly before activating customer routing.
  6. Test customer-facing landing and portal entry. The tenant-slug route remains available as the fallback.
  7. If ownership or routing changes, type the canonical hostname and DISABLE exactly to return to tenant-slug routing.

Safety checks

  • The domain must belong to the tenant.
  • Unknown or unverified hosts should fail safely.
  • Custom domain changes should be auditable.
  • TXT proof values are setup instructions, not sign-in or provider credentials. Do not copy opaque URL identifiers, backend messages, request IDs, provider responses, or internal readiness evidence into DNS records or support messages.
  • A visible or disabled button is not authorization. Motornauts rechecks Tenant Admin permission, module readiness, tenant ownership, current status, DNS proof, routing conflicts, and audit rules on every change.
