Technician Onboarding

Role focus

Technicians work on assigned repair orders, complete inspection checklists, record findings, upload approved media, and update job progress from the workshop floor.

What you need

Confirm your staff login, branch assignment, and technician permissions. Use a device that can capture photos when media upload is enabled, and ask whether inspection videos are enabled or still readiness-gated by media safety, quota, private access, and Motornauts support review. If video readiness is not live, use photos or documents; the Video media option stays unavailable.

First login and workspace orientation

The sidebar keeps My jobs visible with its full label. On a smaller screen, open the header navigation menu to return to the queue. Check the tenant and branch scope and choose the light or dark display mode that is readable in your work area.

Sign in and open My Jobs. Now contains active workshop work, Next contains assigned work waiting behind it, and Blocked contains work waiting for approval or parts. The displayed generated time is manually refreshed; it is not a live queue. Open the plate-anchored vehicle row, then use Overview, Checklist, Findings, and Documents. Search by plate, job reference, vehicle or service when the vehicle is not in the first few rows.

First steps

  1. Refresh My Jobs and start with the first server-ordered item in Now, then Next.
  2. Open the plate-anchored vehicle action; do not copy or interpret the URL identifier.
  3. Read the customer concern and any rework instructions before starting inspection.
  4. Choose Start inspection for a checked-in vehicle. Complete the saved service checklist or add checks when no checklist is configured; a failed save keeps your entries.
  5. Add findings with clear descriptions.
  6. Upload general evidence with Inspection photos and documents. Attach a file to a finding only when it supports that finding; never create a fake finding to hold a general photo or document.
  7. Submit the inspection when evidence is ready.
  8. Update status only through available actions.
  9. Tell the Service Advisor when work is blocked or ready for estimate.

Typical workflow

Work from assigned jobs, not from customer search or invoice screens. Each job should move from review to inspection, findings, media, progress update, and handoff for advisor review or QC.

When to ask for help

Ask the Service Advisor about customer instructions, approvals, and estimate questions. Ask the Branch Manager about workload or assignment conflicts. Send final quality questions to Quality Controller when that role is enabled.

Safe use

Do keep findings factual, media relevant, and status updates current. Do not change invoices, tenant settings, fleet billing, staff roles, or repair orders outside your assignment.

Example

Open an assigned repair order, complete an inspection checklist, add one whole-inspection photo and two finding-specific photos, wait for their safety state, submit the inspection, and identify who owns the next customer approval step.
